Our Story

Krishnan Iyer's
Legacy Lives On

In 1971, Krishnan Iyer set up a small brass counter on Malleshwaram's eighth cross. He served idli made from hand-ground batter, filter coffee brewed in traditional copper filters, and medu vada so crisp they'd snap at the first bite.

Today, his grandson stands at the dosa stove — same recipe, same discipline, same 6:30am opening. The third generation has added nothing and removed nothing.

"Our elders taught us that breakfast is sacred. We don't compromise on batter, we don't rush the fermentation, we don't pretend shortcuts work."

— Current generation, Iyer Iddli

The Experience

How We Serve

Banana leaf. Brass tumbler. No plastic. The way breakfast was meant to be.

Banana Leaf Service

Every order is served on a fresh banana leaf. The leaf imparts a subtle aroma that pairs with the food. It's tradition, not theatre.

Stone-Ground Batter

Rice and urad dal ground fresh each evening. No ready-made batter. No shortcuts. The texture you taste is the result of two generations' discipline.

Brass Tumbler Coffee

Filter coffee served in a brass tumbler set on a saucer. The metal keeps the coffee hotter, longer. The pour is an art form passed down through generations.

What People Say

Decades of Morning Regulars

"I've been coming here since I was six years old. I'm 48 now. The idli tastes exactly the same. That's the point."

"Took my American colleague here for breakfast. He ordered three medu vadas. Then ordered two more. The crisp on those vadas is no joke."
